Colour codes in food and other things
October 16, 2006
It’s perfectly intuitive. Some examples of colour coding in food, packaging and branding:
- Red - beef, raw meat, animal protein, amonia
- Blue - dairy, raw fish, methelated spirits
- Green - vegetables and fruit
- Yellow - poultry, bleach
- Pink - pork, gay
Vegetable distinctions:
- Green - vegetables
- Plum - fruit
Dairy distinctions:
- Royal blue - whole milk, full-fat milk
- Cerulem blue, light blue - half-fat milk
- White with blue: non-fat milk
- Green - yoghurt, full-fat yoghurt
- Light green - yoghurt from goat or sheep milk and half-fat yoghurt from cow milk
- Red - buttermilk
- Lavender - cultured milk, lesbian

Also, the little twist ties on loaves of bread. They are color coded according to date baked. ALways grab one from the back for the freshest!
